Thank you for the kind words, Susan. I will definitely look into Sher's book, it sounds quite apt. (And I very much like your blog - quietly fabulous we most certainly are!)

I'm sorry you're having a tough time. It does sound like you've learned a lot about yourself and they are very valuable lessons. Like you, it takes me a long, long time to process things. But I didn't learn that lesson until I was well into my 40s, so you're definitely a step ahead learning it at a younger age! I actually give you a lot of credit for moving around as much as you have; I do think that's harder for introverts because it requires so much of our energy. And as you've discovered, I think it's one of those things that you have to experience before you truly understand.

If you're unsure of what you want to do because it seems there are so many choices, you might want to read Refuse to Choose, by Barbara Sher. I'm reading a similar book now called The Renaissance Soul by Margaret Lobenstine. I really felt I found myself after reading Sher's book.

Taking some time to make a thoughtful decision is a smart idea. Good luck!

Hi Meredith!

Very sweet of you to comment. And nice to know there's someone else who knows what I'm talking about :) There's a lot of I really genuinely liked about the Bay Area and it is certainly a great place to travel to - my dad is actually from north bay and he misses it, and I understand why! I definitely saw the beauty, it just isn't the place for me, at least not now. I can tell you this - you will be a stronger person for moving away and experiencing life in a different place. More power to us! :)

I'm sorry you didn't love the Bay Area. I went away from it for college three years ago and it breaks my heart to be away. I understood this year that craving of just staying in a place where you were raised, the comfort of it all, especially in the bay. But it is a hard place sometimes, when I moved to the midwest I was shocked at how friendly everyone was, people don't go out of their way to make you feel welcome, which is certainly hard to deal with. Hopefully in a few years the circumstances will change and you can visit and see more of the beauty than the bad.
